Michael Londra's Celtic Fire

Sunday, March 17, 2013 3:00PM
Person Theater

*

Rodney Strong Vineyards Dance Series

$50.00 and $30.00

Pre-show discussion at 2pm

Michael Londra’s Celtic Fire, starring the renowned Irish tenor, presents the culture of Ireland, with a focus on Irish dance. Its electric energy sweeps audiences away to the Emerald Isle—its culture, its music, its pubs, its heart.

World-class Irish dancers take the stage with brilliant flashes of speed and exuberance. The jigs and reels they perform with precision are a joy and the innovative choreography is original to this show, presenting an exciting style of Irish dance that perfectly complements the live band.

The music of Celtic Fire is traditional at its core, featuring Ireland’s national instruments, such as the fiddle, the great drum; the bodhran and the uileann pipes.

Michael Londra is a driving force in Irish arts worldwide. He was named Best Irish Tenor at the 2011 Irish Music Awards and was described as "one of the greatest Irish singers of our time" by Capital Celtic. He was the lead singer in Riverdance on Broadway and his Michael Londra Beyond Celtic concert aired on PBS stations nationwide more than 300 times in 2011. He has performed on the world’s biggest stages, from Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall, to Kremlin Palace in Moscow and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The video accompanying Londra’s version of “Danny Boy” has been viewed more than five million times on YouTube.
